Driving Sustainable Impact: Our History of Innovation and Collaboration Since 2007

Get inspired with us

Established in 2007, and incorporated in 2008, we have worked across a range of industries and sectors with businesses, government, NGOs, universities, schools, and charities.

The team consists of software engineers, scientists, designers and communicators and work mainly across environmental sciences: Oceanology, Meteorology, Litter, Wind Energy, Marine Renewables, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Pollution, Climate Change, Marine Traffic, Met Ocean, Biodiversity, Assessments & Monitoring, Education, Stakeholder Engagement, Policy and Science Communication.

We have participated in more than 30 European Commission Horizon projects including Framework 7, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe. In many of these projects, we have taken the lead as a Work Package (WP) leader. We have also successfully delivered over 20 contracts for UK government agencies and are currently working on contracts with government agencies and NGOs in Belgium, Germany, Iceland, France, Australia, and the US.

In 2022 we received recognition from the Welsh government, which officially acknowledged Blue Lobster as the company with the highest participation in the EU Horizon 2020 programme among Welsh companies. During our first year of business we received the Business Link Business Startup of the Year award and we've received a few more since then. However, more importantly than the recognition of our success is that as a company we are making an impact on all our futures in the combined efforts toward understanding our planet and planning for a sustainable future.

As we are committed to developing innovative solutions that have a positive impact on the environment and society as a whole, we have developed several of our own products and libraries that enable rapid deployment of solutions for WebGIS, Digital Twins, Modelling, Data Architecture/Analysis, Interactive Data Analysis, Web-Based Collaboration Forums, Documentation/Resource Repositories, Online Marketplaces, and Interactive Metadata Platforms. These tools allow us to work more efficiently and effectively, to deploy solutions rapidly and enable us to provide our clients and society with the highest quality service possible.

Our Leadership Team

The Blue Lobster team are always keen to hear from like-minded software development and academic professionals who can provide truly personalised and innovative solutions for businesses and organisations. We are involved in all stages of the design and software creation process and you must be capable of the same vision as the rest of us to appreciate how each part of the team affects the other in making this as seamless a process as possible.

You can expect to be working, and exchanging ideas and knowledge, with amazingly creative and technical talents. You will improve your hard and soft skills in a vibrant environment. There is plenty of space for creativity, taking things in new directions, exploring new technologies and trends. However, more importantly, you will have the opportunity to realise these collaboratively with other team members, clients and end-users.

As part of a culture that embraces diversity, we encourage you to apply regardless of gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age, language or any other diversifying factor. Let us all strive to improve equal opportunities and accessibility within our industry.
